Can’t I just use AI tools?

What if I have sensitive documents I need edited?

All SecondEdits.com editors sign an NDA, which ensures that client information remains confidential and is never disclosed outside of contexts relevant to our work.

Information submitted to SecondEdits.com is retained securely and is only accessible to SecondEdits.com employees. You can request that sensitive materials provided to SecondEdits.com are deleted from our files after work is completed.

SecondEdits.com provides comprehensive copyediting services to our clients. Copyediting is the art making sure your writing says what you want it to say, from the micro to the macro. We sweat over commas, colons, and conjunctions so you don’t have to.

We’re happy to tailor our level of editing to your needs, from a quick-and-dirty edit to intensive editing. We are also mindful of your audience, and will edit with a particular tone and level of complexity in mind.

Does SecondEdits.com do fact checking?

SecondEdits.com is not a fact checking service. As is standard for the industry, we will correct obvious factual errors, but are not responsible for specialized fact or source checking, or ensuring compliance with particular standards.

How long does it take for SecondEdits.com to complete edits?

For most submissions, you will receive edits two business days from submission, and often our turnaround is even faster. Be sure to note any deadlines or timelines during your first contact with us, and we will do our best to accommodate. Longer or more edit-intensive works may take longer.

Our editing process is broken down into three phases:

Step 1: Submission and Preparation

The first step in the editing process is the submission of a work to be edited through our Get to Edits form (linked here and above) or via email. Your work will then be assigned to one of our editors, who will do a brief review of your work to ensure our services will be helpful. At this stage, the editor will reach out using the contact information provided and present a tentative cost quote for the edits.

Step 2: Editing

After you accept the quote, our staff will then get to work on editing your work. We will take into consideration any constraints or requests you made when you provided us the work to edit.

Step 3: Completion, Payment, and Receipt of Edited Work

After our edits are complete, our editor will reach out to you with a payment link. After payment, SecondEdits.com will release your edited work. We are always available for a follow up discussion of the edits we made (and will will make explanatory comments in your document as well).

Our standard editing rate is $15 per 500 words. Rates can vary for more edit-intensive (or longer) work, but we will always communicate any rate changes before we start editing.
